Is Ethanol good for the environment?

Ethanol's one main advantage over gasoline is that it's renewable. It's not significantly cheaper and it's cleaner, but not as clean as hydrogen, which produces only water vapor. However, it doesn't have oil's main disadvantage, which is that it's a fossil fuel. There's a constant search for new places to drill as the existing ones get dpeleted, and eventually it will run out.
