Wrestling and its significance/impact in the US?

for us history cl doing project and topic is wrestling: wrestlers and corporations. teacher has been getting on my case that it is a stupid topic and has no historical, social, economic, or political significance whatsoever. so anyone who has any statistical figures or information on the stuff said above please help. i am determined to throw this information in her face and laugh
