Is 8months pregnant to early to be having contractions?

I am having what i believe are braxton hicks. However, the cramping and pains were like 2 days apart,, now it is within hours of each other sometimes lasting 2 hours at a time on and off. Yesterday and This morning is when they started more often and more painfull, I just want to know if this is normal or common please, no go to the hospital answers.
