I have created shortcut hotkeys on my windows XP and now can't remove them.?

I made shortcuts and placed them on my desktop to 8 Outlook 07 folders. I then made keys 1 thru 8 on my number pad as hotkeys. I did not like the function and so I deleted the shortcuts perm. Now every time I hit a num key a window to my desktop opens. I have tried everything to remove them. I remade the shortcuts and try to detach them. I opened my keyboard and tried to set keys back to default. etc. please help.
